Protect and Strengthen Democracy

Angela believes democracy only works if power stays accountable to voters — not donors, not the courts acting unchecked, and not a handful of billionaires who own the media we rely on for the truth.

• Get money out of politics. Abolish Super PACs and get corporate and billionaire money out of elections (see Section 1 — cross-link rather than duplicate)

• Reform the Supreme Court. Expand the Court, impose term limits, and require a binding ethics code for justices (see Section 12 — cross-link)

• Protect a free and independent press. Fight back against the Paramount/Warner Bros. Discovery merger, which California's Attorney General and 12 other state AGs are suing to block on antitrust grounds — an LA County report estimates the merger could cost nearly 2,500 local jobs. Angela is concerned about what media consolidation means for independent journalism, given the changes already made at CBS News since the Ellison family and Bari Weiss took over 

• Defend voting rights and election integrity, and oppose efforts to weaponize federal law enforcement against journalists, protesters, or elected officials for political speech.

• Defend state authority to regulate independently of federal overreach, including on AI, and oppose federal preemption of state civil rights and safety law
